The Difficulty of Parenting
It is not easy to be a parent. There are people who complain when a parent takes time off work to be with a sick child. It is as though the parent was having a good time taking care of the sick child when in reality, the parent is not doing something that people want to do like dealing with a feverish baby who is crying her heart out or cleaning out the what the toddler has vomited on the floor.
A mother who gets two hours of straight sleep in between nursing, comforting a screaming baby who gets upset with everything, while healing from childbirth is indeed lucky. And mothers have to take their showers very quickly and not able to use the toilet alone, and with a husband that expects a clean house and laundry that's put away all the time.
Parents get to make plenty of realizations when things don't get much easier as the baby grows older. Although, yes, your older children can be now more independent, can communicate their needs, and put on their own clothes, but it also comes with a lot of temper tantrums, stubbornness that contradicts your opinions, and crayon murals on your walls, clay in your carpet and glitter all over the place.
When they become teenagers, they overcome these childish things but they are toned down to just being messy. Glasses with straws left anywhere, pairs of shoes all over the place, etc. They don't have temper tantrums but they have this teen-like attitudes where they feel the need to argue with everything you say, roll their eyes, and think that they are right about everything.
Parenting is not easy. It is not always that glorious but it has its rewards. If you love your children, you will do everything to make them good individuals, someone you will be proud of. They have a piece of you. They are worth every dollar you spend on them, every deep breath you take to keep calm and every effort you make to be a good parent.
